    San Pellegrino Terme is a town of 5,000 inhabitants in the province of Bergamo, in Lombardy, in Northern Italy at 70 km from Milan.

    Located at the center of the Brembana Valley and surrounded by the foothills of the Orobie, is a renowned health resort care and residence, known worldwide because of the mineral water, San Pellegrino.

    Founded by the Celts, named San Pellegrino just in the eighth century AD when the bishops to Charlemagne's devoted service councils in San Pellegrino, Bishop of Auxerre, martyr.

    Remained under Venetian rule for 350 years (1428-1797), San Pellegrino in the late XVIII century develops as spa, sulphate-alkaline-earthy thanks to the waters that flow at a constant temperature of 26 degrees, known since the middle ages.

    In the 20th century, particularly during the Belle Epoque, the town is transformed into an elegant Spa. The fame of the town increased with the building of the municipal Casino in 1904 and the Grand Hotel in 1905, two splendid buildings among the finest examples of Art Nouveau style in Italy.

    The Casino operated as a gambling house only until 1917, but has always hosted theatrical and cultural events, congresses, fashion shows, art exhibitions and gala evenings.

    To date it has been completely restored and extended by a wing Theatre adjacent to it, the complex is now used for meetings, events and conferences.

    The Grand Hotel was intended for a high social class so much that among the guests include Kings and Princes of the House of Savoy, writers such as Nobel prizes Eugenio Montale and Salvatore Quasimodo, actors and sportsmen, so that for every year 60 San Pellegrino and the Grand Hotel were the summer retreat of the Inter FC, at that time the strongest Football Club in the world.
